I am also a nobody!
It's a secret we share;
I dry my eyes and fake a smile,
As if anybody could care.

How beautiful it is to be somebody
How public, what I need-
And nobody would want to hear my tale
Of why I used to bleed.

Why should I try to be somebody;
It's ugly, and dried,
No matter what I'll always know,
Nobody's by my side.

You could be a nobody
A nobody with I
So I can tell you my livelong tale
Of how I wanted to die.

The author's comments:
I wrote this in response to Emily Dickinson's "I'm Nobody". It really inspired me to write this poem, and I even presented it in front of my English class!

This is amazing! Emily Dickinson is one of my favorite poets. :) I appreciate that you mirrored her style in this. Also, I can just relate to the subject matter of this poem on so many levels. I have dealt with depression, feeling like I am nobody and that no one cares. I have been into that dark place and never thought I could get out. For me, what really helped was writing. It helped me get my feelings out in a healthy way. I encourage you to keep with this. You already have a unique voice that will probably make you famous someday!
