I Will Paint
I sit staring; a blank canvas affront me.
Bottles of colors lie about
while lids too lie scattered,
littering the surface of the floors.
Like the canvas,
my mind is blank.
Pictures of limitless beauty
forage through my imagination,
but always slip my grasp.
Glistening indigo oceans
trail to an end
where powerful waterfalls deliver life
to that which lies beneath its open mouth.
Gazelles graze amongst lions peacefully,
basking in the rays of the life-giving sun.
Sand tickles the feet of man and woman
as they walk, hand-in-hand,
over sparkling taupe beaches.
Birds of every sort sit perched along treetops,
singing melodically,
sweetening the ears of listeners.
Nirvana fills my head as I sit
painting pictures of such a utopia,
with a blank canvas.
One day, when I find it within me,
I will paint.
Paintings to be shared amongst all,
near and far.
Paintings to prove the impossible,
possible.
Paintings to show that we all,
despite our differences,
may paint.
Paint to reach other,
or to awaken, and reach ourselves.
Some may paint with brushes,
while others may paint with words.
In any case,
we must paint.
Paint to save ourselves and others;
paint to save humanity.
