With posies in her pocket
She skips
With each jump her hair sways
And flips
Clouds of ashes coat the sky
Heavy they fall
And heavy they die
Without a care she continues
Skipping and swaying
Til she is shot down
Smiling and praying
For a better world she laughs
as the bomb bursts in her ears
her eyes cast
a glazed over glance at the giants
A blast
Comfort in the sound
Of nothing at last

To love is to be vulnerable; Triumph is born out of struggle; We notice shadows most when they stand alone in the midst of overwhelming light.

Though, I've never experienced this, something in your poem made me think about my past. I keep going back to this, and reading it again and again. I know I've commented ont his before, but I have to say it again. Your poem is wonderfully written. Thanks for sharing this!

Your poem is sad, but beautifully written. Others have told you this before, and I'm glad they have. Thank you for sharing this.

I really like this.  It just feels so real to the place we live in today.
