Favorite Quote:
"Life is too short to be anything but happy."

Comforting sunlight beams down on my exposed back,
The warmth heightened and more enveloping
Because of the charcoal lace fabric that floats
Above my cold waist and battered knees
Who are well acquainted with the concrete.

Like a blended pencil sketch,
The fabric melds over my body
With the lace intertwining so close
That you can’t distinguish the start or end.
Subtly hugging me, wrapping around me,
It shapes into my own personal armor that
Is disguised as something mistaken
As simple and flimsy.

Awe hangs in the air,
Floating above my head,
Yet no one can imagine how it feels,
How it feels to be emphasized
And flattered in all the right places
That you had once considered
To be so wrong.
No one can feel
The rosy blush that has flowered,
The heat embracing your bare skin,
The strength that flies out like a hero’s cape
As you seem to soar above the world
And its petty misfortunes and tragedies.

No longer any ordinary girl,
I’ve become so much more,
So much beyond anything
That anyone could ever dream.
Faith restored like an old house
Being refurbished into home,
Confidence soaring like a bird
That has just escaped its cage—
You’d be surprised at just what
A little black dress
And love can do.

The author's comments:
Girls know especially how it feels to have that one perfect dress that fits you in just all the right places. And love is the same way-- it gives you more courage, confidence, and strength to face the world because it flatters you and ultimately makes you a more beautiful person on the outside and the inside.
