Bizarre World
Walking along the busy new york city streets
Hearing the honking horns and the whipping wind
Firmly grasping your mother’s hand
Pulling and tugging only to look up and see an unfamiliar face
You’re lost.
You’re alone.
In a city full of bizarre people and things.
The gray monster with feathers falling from the sky pecks at you
Slowly ascending down, staring at you with his piercing eyes
His big belly bursting as he walks your way.
The yellow machine coming at you at full force.
Not stopping, not yielding, not waiting.
The shrill screech sounds as you sprint by.
Tall robots around every corner, scraping the sky
towering over you, surrounding you...
leaving you defenseless
Every direction you turn lights blind you
So many signs in sight, but none helping you find your way back.
You stumble upon a green queen with a torch, guiding you towards the right path,
Giving you super powers
You feel hope pulsating through your veins and a rush of adrenaline
You begin to take gallant strides
listening to your inner self
as you march through the monstrous, yet magnificent city.
You scan the crowds of people
to find a worn-down weeping women…
You’ve found not only your mother,
but yourself.
