Raindrops on the Window
The rain beats down
Upon the window.
The rain beats down
Upon the roof.
I lay in bed silently
Listening to the rain upon the tin roof.
Watching the rain fall on the glass window.
I am at peace.
I am home.
Sausage and eggs are cooking downstairs.
She's awake.
I slip out of bed
And tiptoe across the hall.
I dash downstairs,
And I see her.
My Grandmother.
On her farm.
I may only visit a few times a year,
But this has been and always will be home for me.
The rain continues.
So reassuring.
So comforting.
This is my home.
