Drunken Words
Drunken words are the most truthful
After the shots
After the lightweights have passed out
After the ones still standing have laid down
That’s when the truth comes out to play
Forget the most recent physics formula
Instead, memories of hurt and fear reappear
Because drunken words can always be taken back
"I don’t remember"
"I was wasted"
An easy out
But whatever’s said,
Is never forgotten
We all know the truth has come out to play
In the midst of darkness
When it felt like we were the only ones in the world
Without consequences
In the middle of the night
When time ceased and the calendars fell away
That was when the truth came out to play
Our minds, its fragile toys
Forcing uncertainty into our daily lives
Do you like someone?
Plot twist – do you hate them?
How about the other one?
Play with your reality
Watch and heed caution
Over secrets told in public places
With the sunlight shining on your face
But seek out the late night humans
Who’ve laid down to avoid falling
And tell a tale
A tale so honest and real
You should take it to heart
And believe with all your might
It may hurt
It may bleed
But it is worth hearing
