The Middle of the Night
It's the middle of the night.
Shadows surround me,
And I can't sleep.
I wonder if the Angels
Hear my thoughts,
Because I can hear them
Clear as day.
I'm lonely, and tired,
But sleep won't come.
Tossing and turning.
Nothing helps.
Memories I want to forget
Come creeping back,
And in the darkness
I hear voices
Taunting me,
And I am wide awake.
Noises seem louder,
And I wish I were dreaming.
But I am dreaming.
Aren't we always?
