Sunrise
She raised her lofty head
And blinked her golden eye
To see a world
Fraught in ice and cold
The ground as white as clouds
She stormed across the sky
The stars fled before her
Passing from sight
And in her rage
She beat upon the earth
Snow flakes quivered and died
The night shadows fled
Retreating across the earth
She bathed the world with her light
Filling the darkest hallow
It seeped through shuttered windows
And crawled under bolted doors
To awake the sleeping children
To fill the new day
With laughter and life
