Art of Nothing
Nothing is more like an art than boredom
It has all the elements of the major three
Music’s sounds, Art’s sights, Writing’s poetry
Walk into a classroom full of bored students.
Array of emotions on their faces,
Each like a color on an artist’s pallet.
Tapping fingers: drums in a symphony.
A droning teacher’s words directs sighs and yawns.
Fidgeting feet stomp on too-clean a floor.
‘Sleeping eyes’ on a page makes imagery
For a poet who still cannot fall asleep,
To watch those students doze
Brings a sharp envy.
