I'm Sorry
Embedded into my heart,
just as the shirt,
Colors of pride,
red and white.
Sorrowful, it hangs,
A constant reminder,
A relentless trip down memory lane,
with just a glance,
it tugs at my heart strings.
What could have been,
What never will be.
“You've got this number seven.”
voices cheered me on.
Surrounded,
There I am again,
Reliving it all over
the smell, the team, the scenery,
my last chance.
Solemnly staring back to reality,
my failure,
“I'm sorry”
the fabric appears to say.
