Funny Story
What a funny story it is to tell
When you’ve cried all night and laugh so loud
Jolly and jolty in a crowded room
Champagne flows cold
Bubbly and fuzzy from the glass to the brain
The blood searing through beat up veins
You’re haughty and heavy
Tipsy and trippy and marvelously drunk
A high so high, not as dreadful as sober
But it hurts to be here
It hurts to be alive
With the alcohol, bitter and sweet
And the chatter, plenty and cheap
So you slide and slip and kiss us all goodbye
Ta ta for now, see you on another side
It’s funny how you talk about the things you hate
It’s funny when you sip a cup and fall far in distaste
How hard on your heart
How sweet on your mouth
How dreadfully easy it all comes out
Bubbly and fuzzy from the glass to the brain
To the last drop of hope you’ve ever never had
