Mother Earth
“Bang, Bang!” Cars fly by, running over crushed cans
Candy wrappers and old fast food cups lie on the edges of busy highways
Empty beer cans being washed up on the side of the riverbank
Thousands of animals encounter the litter; some unfortunately get hurt, while others lose their lives
It’s disappointing the way our earth is today, trash blowing around in the wind like lost money
It stops for a second and then picks up again
Children start searching throughout the neighborhood streets, each one picking up trash, bending down past their feet.
They are collecting garbage in their trash bags, scattering around like ants on an old apple.
I am exited how the community decides to help out
They show the change they would like to see in the world
My hopes are high that Mother Earth will only get better from here.
