Unexpectations
You sat on the bus
still, quiet.
Leaning against the
old, rattling window.
And all seats were taken
as I walked down the isle,
except yours.
So I sat down with you.
Headphones brought up
to your ears.
Payed no attention to me
or the clueless people
around us.
True friends were
something of which I lacked
then and now.
I felt a difference from you,
I wanted to hear your voice.
I wanted you to talk, smile, laugh
with me.
It felt like forever
but a day came when
I walked to the same seat,
expecting silence
but it was broken.
Your eyes were brought to mine
and you spoke to me.
"Hello."
Oh, your sweet voice.
It all started so simple.
We talked of the strangest things.
"What if we were birds?"
"I wanna move to Florida."
"Maybe one day I can play guitar for you."
And I couldn't help
but wonder what else
you thought of.
I'm not certain of when
but maybe not that day
or the one after
but somewhere in this time
I fell in love.
