The Window
What is known of bittersweet melancholy,
Christmas decorations; mistletoe and holly,
Lonely on the eve; always shy of jolly,
Brilliance of much red and such green,
Stark to the eye, if you know what I mean,
Contrast as such; a glossy coated sheen,
Golden trumpets, and some silver bells,
Icon-isms of faith, with stories to tell,
Suit your fancy, I think all to well,
A pine tree, with a star to be on top,
Decorated together, with a jovial hop,
Joy to spare, nowhere left to stop,
Snowflakes here, and snowflakes there,
Angels made, cocoa in the warm air,
A family together, how much they care,
Oh dear, I hope they never know,
How cold it is on my side of the window.
