The Dream of Life
I dreamt my eyes could see the day
Where shadows danced and sunlight played
An endless sea of luminous stars
And noisy cites, and honking cars
A hill that ended in the sky
Two tickets to where lovers fly
The birthday that came once a year
An intimate whisper in the ear
And my dream had color in many ways
Like chilly mornings and dreary days
Or even sunsets as warm as gloves
The best of all that shined of love
So many days have passed since then
The endless echoes of what might have been
I’ve since been swept by an angel’s wing
I’d dreamt of life, it was a beautiful thing
