Once.
Once
Once I found a dream,
And the dream was new.
It brought bright cascading shapes of magnificence,
Dancing across blank pages of blank hearts,
Bringing vibrant splatters of hope,
Splashes of imagination and wonder,
And it was simply beautiful.
Once, I found a story,
And the story was sweet.
It told of true love so pure, so seemingly unattainable,
That brought light to deep rooted places,
Places that were kissed by the dark,
kissed by the shadows and the torment,
And it was simply inspiring.
Once, I found love,
And the love was promising.
And it dazed me and amazed me in ways I’d never dreamed.
It showed me life and made me want to live it.
Live it endlessly and live it in love,
This love that made my heart ache and race all at once,
And it was simply intoxicating.
Once, I found you,
And you weren’t perfect,
With your loud opinions to cover up your secret insecurities,
And your bold opinions that matched mine when no one else’s dared to,
Your arguments and laughs that filled the days and nights,
That made me want to argue more, and laugh more.
And it was simply perfect.
Once, I lost a dream.
And I lost a story, and I lost a love.
The things I’d found with you, shared with you,
It left me torn and tattered and hollow.
Once, I found so much,
And I lost it all,
When I lost you.
