“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”
-Charles William Eliot

My eyes open
Sunlight streaks in
A gentle breeze blows through my open window
I sit up and think lightly about the day ahead
My ears open
Calling birds are heard first
My Blanket is cool where it touches my bare feet
I sit up and think lightly about the day ahead
My mouth opens
A yawn quickly escapes
My hair tickles the corner of my eyes
I sit up and think lightly about the day ahead
My nose awakens
Bringing the scent of rain covered sage brush
My mom hums quietly while walking by my door
I sit up and think lightly about the day ahead
My palms open
Marked with lines of a peaceful night's sleep
The clock ticks
I sit up to think lightly about the day ahead

I love summer, and this poem just makes me remember those awesome mornings when you're still hot even with the window open and don't open your eyes until noon.

Light, breezy, and just carefree. Nice! The perfect way to wake up.
