Far Away From Here (3:13 am)
i always wake up right before i get there,
right before the train pulls into the station.
right before the plane lands.
right before the boat reaches a shoreline,
right before my feet touch the ground.
i never know where i’m going, only that
i’m anxious to get there,
only that i’ve
got my head wrapped
around the
terminal velocity of something impossible.
tumbling head over heels into
darkness
or
light
and i’m not sure which one is worse
(better?)
not sure which one
which path
which words
which actions
will take me where i want to go.
(where do i want to go anyway?)
that place,
world,
voice,
song,
person,
dream that takes me where
i’m untouchable,
takes me where nothing else can.
and i only wish that next time
i wake up,
i’ll wake up far away from here.
(and i hope you’ll be there, too.)
