End of Childhood
The days of innocence
The days of naïve assumptions
Draw to a close.
Night settles in
Bringing dark hours of need
Of approval of peers
And our elders.
As dawn approaches
The light of knowledge banishes
Not only the dark night
But also the glorious day past.
With this new, dawning day
A full grown adult
Full of experience and worldly knowledge
Still yearns for the
The days of innocence
The days of naïve assumptions
That had drawn to a close.
