The Beast
The beast crept from its sulken bed
Amidst the cloudy morning rain
It slipped into the blackest clothes
Which matched its eye shade perfectly
Dark bags hung from the sky
And concealed under the beast’s lashes
Where it walked, all turned to soot
The flowers wilted at its feet
Don’t look into its pupils
Or try to smile at the beast’s gloomy glare
Where its heart resided was cold and lonely
And affected the ones it cared most about
Even within the sunshine that tried to break through
All that was beautiful died
Every memory was shattered and forgotten
The beast was numb, lonely, and shed not a single tear
In fact, all its tears had been wasted waiting
Waiting for happiness to grace its lips
And I was startled to see when I looked in the rain
The beast had consumed me
