Beautiful Bones
He told her
How her name came to mind
When he thought of forever.
Without even taking her eyes
From the page in her book
She pushed one thin finger
To his lips.
After several silent seconds
Slipped to the past,
She spoke.
“I love you today, And tomorrow I will probably Dial your number to tell you My love still remains. But please, Don’t trap our souls in Plans or promises Beyond a few months, Even weeks, In the future. Every books ends, Its only the journey Found in the pages Living between each cover, That matters.”
That’s simply how she was,
A writer,
A reader,
She was a skeleton of art.
But God Damn,
How tight her beautiful bones,
Grasped his heart.
