River Street
Roaring thunder
Shakes thrumming air.
Once still skies,
Now alight with swirling clouds,
Black as ash
From dying flames.
Drops of rain,
Frozen shards of crystal glass,
Fall fresh as morning dew
On high, lush mountaintop.
Cobbles scrambled about,
Strewn across broken highway
Elegant pathway, in classic city;
Left to the elements,
Turn to seasonal creek-bed.
