The Problem with Depression
The problem with depression is that
the air feels too heavy
and your words sound so thick
and you look in the mirror and you are massive
and your shoulders are burdened because of this weight
and you don’t know how to fix it
The problem with depression is that
your blue eyes turn gray
and the sun is no longer yellow
and pink becomes obnoxious
and you only see in shades of sadness
and you don’t know how to fix it
The problem with depression is that
your bed becomes a home
and school becomes a stranger
and life is a prison
and it hurts to let someone in
and you don’t know how to fix it
The problem with depression is that
you are drained
and you are empty
and you are unable to care
and you don’t want to care
and you certainly don’t want to fix it
so you don’t.
