Favorite Quote:
“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.”
― Henry David Thoreau

Slowly, softly,
Broken glass treads against new skin
Biting, searing, scathing, teasing
Diligently scraping from inside out
Crystals of flesh that used to gleam
Used to mean—

Lying in an empty abyss
Churning self-worth into self-acclaimed pity
Lost love, love lost
Memories shape scars carved recklessly by time
Woeful wounds run the lengths of muscles
Learned in methods of dissimulation

But heartache is full,
Burgeoning with salty bitterness
Rising balloons trapped deep in thick layers
Of shock, grief, regret, and acceptance

There is nothing worse
Than hollow eyes of indifference
Passing ever so often
Desperately looking for a tragic tale to save

Because the wanderers search for kindred souls
Losing shreds of confidence by passing seconds
Moving past, unnoticed
Unimportant
Lost to the world
That finds heartache consolable,
And tragedy curable
But lets wholesome souls degrade
Piece by piece
Into emptiness
Floating higher and higher
Until their stories are never heard
Never told
Never asked for
