Because there is nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times its sent away. -Sarah Kay

nothing grows here

it is

empty

trees ran away

many years ago

water is

afraid to fall

shrubs are

lonely

snakes slither

jack rabbits hop

lizards crawl

trying to get out

but never find the end

death surrounds

no water

no liffe

rocks untouched

for hundreds of years

families

do not move here

children

do not play here

sunrise

sunset

day by day

month by month

year by year

nothing grows here
