Im not a cube!
Of all the days
i have lived so far,
all of them have been spent
behind bars.
Chained by society
locked in a box
shipped off to somewhere
where i am lost.
As of late,
I’ve encountered a condition,
a condition of society that
forces me into someone i'm not.
takes away my freedom,
and locks it in a box.
If I were to break out of the box,
i may be shunned,
who knows if there are others like me?
So stay i do
and i do dream
of the day when I will break free.
So I call for all the women
who don't want to stay
where they don't belong
and I call for all the men
who love to cook
and for all those who believe that this is right
to raise their voices high
and sing songs of freedom
and rejoice
as from the box you break free
and we will find others
like you and me.
I don't curl or straighten my hair
I rarely put on makeup
it takes me 30 minutes to get up and out of the house.
I want to join the military
I love science and math
even though I don't score well in either.
I know at school I don't always fit in
but I like things that way.
because I am who I am
and I don't fit in
neat pretty boxes.
