Dancing in the Kitchen
She danced in the kitchen
Holding her dreams
And she laughed like a child
But she spoke of distant things
And she watched as the world turned at her feet
We all watched as the world turn at our feet.
And we waited too
For those distant things
But they weren’t as far away as they seemed
The loss of hope weighed heavily
And somewhere beneath all the fame and fortune
We lost more than we need
Our souls slept in that distant grave
And time was shorter than we.
