I Am Cold

I am so
Cold even though I
Am under a blanket
Which was probably
Made by starving children
In a starving country
I do not blink
If I blink I am dead
If I blink I
See her behind
My closed eyelids
It did not rain
When they put her in
The earth and the
Radiant sun felt
Wrong and disrespectful
I am cold
I shiver and hug
The blanket closer
But I can never thaw out
Of the ice which envelopes me
