carefully placed hands, and legs,
and elbows that mimic my body
like a harmless butterfly. I
will not be the only
one to listen to you drift
off to sleep, holding, loving, protecting
even in your dreams. But, ah,
I am jealous of that girl, that
girl so far away. Does she
look like me? Act like me?
Does her hair fall long down her back?
I hope not.
the next girl will be nothing like me.
the next boy will be nothing like you.
yet, everything will be the same.
