A Road Less Travelled
There was a young boy and a young girl hand in hand
Her name was May, his name was Sam
They headed on a journey that seemed so grand
It started on a beach with their toes in the sand
Then they walked to a field with tall green trees
The sunshined, flowers and green grass reached as far as the eye could see
They stopped and looked at eachother, smiled, they were so happy
They ran through the field not worried if their clothes got grassy
Everyone was jealous when they saw them walking
Because they loved talking
And they laughed and they joked
And they tickled and they poked
They were both athletic and watched each other play sports
And they both loved summer because they both loved shorts
He did cross country, basketball, and track
She did cheer and softball and was really good at that
They'd go to each other's game to see the other play
And no matter good or bad they'd always say,
"Good game babe, I love you
And I won't put anyone else above you."
Their love was so true
They rarely had an issue
They rarely ever argued
They went to the amusement park
Rode roller coasters and the ship that swings with in an arc
He wore pink and she wore a white shirt
They use to put in so much effort
To make each other re-fall in love
Always joking with a gentle push, gentle shove
Months went by, then a year passed
The sunny sky turned to overcast
They never really felt it, but they moved too fast
All the trees were starting to look dead
And the grass wasn't greener up ahead
No more flowers
Frequent May showers
They rarely ever fought
Then they fought for hours
Then on one Saturday night
They came to a fork in the road where you go left or right
Left was make up
Right was break up
Sam let May pick and Sam became single
Sam was depressed
Sam was stressed
Sam had to force himself to get up in the morning
And just to get dressed
Sam tried not to show it, but inside he was a mess
All the trees cut down, all the grass turned to dirt
Sam didn't care if there was something on his shirt
Now a days Sam has to fake a smile
Because Sam hasn't been truly happy in awhile
Maybe one day he'll find a new girl
One who will be his whole world
For now Sam walks on a road made of gravel
But you know of it as the road less travelled
