there was a time
i’d just turn my head,
and you’d be there.
i could cry
in your arms
and you’d hold me
whispering,
“everything will be okay.”

now my pillow
is where my tears lay,
and perhaps
the fault is my own,
but i still hear
your voice sometimes,
that’s how i know
i’ve gone crazy,
because pillows
can’t talk.
