Recipe
Sometimes I wonder
what I would see
if I could look at you
in the context of a
recipe.
I know I would find
at least
two cups of confidence
mixed in with
a few heaping tablespoons
of sarcasm
and a dash of
the jokes you tell
that make me laugh
ten times harder than
I probably should
seasoned to taste with
the way that your eyes
find
and look away
from mine
and left to simmer
on low heat with
the way that
your fingers drum
on whatever you can find
when you’re nervous
and whatever it is
that makes my knees weak
and my words come out wrong.
Maybe this way
I could make sense of you.
