Chains
I weigh over a thousand pounds,
I regret each pound I gain,
For these pounds are not of my body,
But burdens of my chains,
They clink as I need silence,
They bellow and they screech,
I know these chains won't go away,
The Lords out of my reach,
With a heavy heart these chains I bare,
I'll carry them as such,
But I wish for God to take away
This evil that I clutch,
You have these chains you can't deny,
You may weigh as much as me,
But no matter how heavy the chains,
You someday can be free.
