Bottled Up
I don’t know if I’m home sick
Or just sick of being alone
In this shell of a
Space I can’t find a place
To fit my heart
Or make it my own
If I were to take a chance
If I were to go ahead and roam
I wouldn’t know where to start
Write a message
Let the words flow freely
From unsound mind into ink
Tie a pretty ribbon soundly
Binding these thoughts
Roll them nice and neat then
Press a cork in to keep me
All bottled up
But whatever happens make
Sure the sea never waves me over
The current may be strong enough
To make me open up
But the water would smudge
Every empty feeling
Pour out your soul and leave me
Even more detached than before
I’ll dry your eyes and be
The one left crumpled on the floor
So many secrets that are now
Mine to hide so what if I go ignored
Like a favorite doll from your childhood
That never left your side
I will forget what it is to
Vent and rest and instead
Invest my strength in burdening your life
Write a message
Let the words flow freely
From unsound mind into ink
Tie a pretty ribbon soundly
Binding these thoughts
Roll them nice and neat then
Press a cork in to keep me
All bottled up
But whatever happens make
Sure the sea never waves me over
The current may be strong enough
To make me open up
But the water would smudge
Every empty feeling
