Dreams
I know a girl
who can fall asleep
without dreaming of darkness.
Her mind can think
in absolute silence.
Her body lays perfectly
still in her bed.
Like she doesn't even exist.
“How do you do it?”
I ask.
“I just think of something,”
she replies.
Her imagination goes far
beyond what the hands
of hell can reach.
She always ducks under
the colorful rainbows when
they tell her to.
She enjoys the feeling
of a mysterious force
pulling at her heartstrings.
The force plucks away,
giving her a wonderful
sensation.
A time of pleasure.
“How do you do it?”
I question.
“I just think of somebody,”
she responds.
She says she feels
safe in her dreams.
Protected by love's guardian.
Its wings spread like
the wings of an
eagle.
It holds her when
she's sad.
But she's never sad
in that land.
She never gets cold.
Just warmer and warmer.
And when she begins
to cry in the
real world,
I wipe her tears
away and kiss her
precious lips.
“How do you do it?
How do you dream?”
I whisper.
She whispers back...
“I just think of you.”
