Sinking in the Atmosphere
I am a feather,
that floats in the air.
Gracefully dancing in the wind.
But,
the dance has stopped.
My arms are flailing.
Falling as the weight of life’s burdens
bear down on me.
The past is plucked from my skin.
Passing me by in the open air.
Bringing back memories
that are better left forgotten.
I am sinking in the atmosphere.
The feather is tattered and torn,
from the harsh winds that pushed it in different directions.
Frail from time and
from falling through the atmosphere.
But,
I have decided not to drop.
I will dance for a second time.
I will float freely,
once again.
