Desired Amnesia

I promise you dear
I will never be able to forget you.
But will so desperately want to.
I will want nothing more,
Than to rip every memory of you out of my mind
Out of my subconscious.
And yet I will find you.
In my dreams,
In my poems,
And in my absent thoughts.
But at this moment all I can do
Is wonder
How I allowed myself to love you
So deeply
When I know,
In the end all you'll cause me,
Is anguish.
