On Songbirds and Ravens
The Raven flies at Midnight
Invisible
against
the night
Searching for purchase
for his talons
as he creeps maliciously,
Silently
through the abyss that is Night
Such is the Soul
Dark and Greedy
putting up a facade of smooth
sleek plumage in the day
but hiding the truth
of the matter
that is the
Scheming sneak-thief of Reality
Hare-bringer of Death and Evil
Sinister
Selfish
And yet we try to do better
to be like the Songbird
Free
full of laughter
and sunshine
Love
each unique song expressing their
Adoration for the Miracle and Privilege
that is
Life
But still the Raven mocks
Critical
"Flighty"
"Always Preening"
"Twittering on mundane
meaningless
useless
things"
"Silly"
Yet the Raven still longs
to be able to
Stop
the stealing
and the ugly croak of voice
to change to the sweet melody
and to hide the heart
that is a gallery of broken glass
Such is parallel to the Soul
