Simple.
Tongue to pallet, rounded
lips.
There is a non-audible
plea, between those
two letters.
Heart flutters at
your touch.
Stay.
eye-rolling and
nonchalant laughter.
you think I’m joking,
I can’t love you,
soul screaming silently
to you
DON’T GO!
yet the thing that kills
is your sorrowful shake
as you turn
“Do you love me?”
Simple.
y-e-s
but my tongue hits my pallet and
my lips rounded themselves out
and you leave me.
No.
