Baseball happens to be a game of cumulative tension but football, basketball and hockey are played with hand grenades and machine guns.
John Leonard

In the dim darkness of night

In the secret chambers of light

Locked away forever

Eternally, hidden from other's view

Lies a girl named Molly

And Molly's been thinking

Her thoughts carry her from world to world

But no one knows

No one understands that Molly thinks

Molly feels

They know Molly has a brain

That's what the doctors say

Everything to her seems hazy

Life passes by in a daze

She's got no sense of time

In her jumping of world to world

Her mother thinks she's crazy

And was scared away by the silent infant

Now Molly's nine

And somewhere out there she's got a brother named David

Molly's not insane

She's not fueled by propane

Molly just has it worse than us

A prisoner in her own mind

A mind that has no intention of releasing her

No one knows who Molly is

She doesn't know anyone else

In the dim darkness of night

In the secret chambers of light

A little girl is starving for affection

Denied it for one simple defection

And you might not know

But Molly sure ain't crazy

My cousin has autism, and I've always felt that he has something going on, just not in our world. I wrote this poem as his voice. It's how I felt at lest, but interpret it as you will. That's what poetry's for, isn't it?
