Remember
Remember the times I ran one with the wind?
Every breath thoughtless
Every thought breathless.
Arms falling free,
light autumn sun comfort to my rose tinted pale.
A rhythmic ballad,
Steps grasping beats in-between those of racing feet
Hair dancing in the air just half a step behind me
Remember how I stopped with a halt,
Catching quick breaths before they caught up with me?
Opened them wide then shut my eyes tight with locks,
letting every other sense take over.
Remember when I felt so free?
One with happiness in it's simplest form,
As I lay in the field of broken leaves.
Sweet relief pounding in and out of
With each breath of blue October air.
Through clenched lids a tear rolled down my cheek,
as I remembered that this was the way things always used to be.
Heavy self lifted beginning to walk away,
A pause in remembering this was the old me.
