The Red Blanket
I don’t know who bought it,
or where it came from,
but for the majority of the of the year
it is draped over one
of the comfy chairs that fill my house.
Every day someone claims it,
to lie under and be warm,
for the duration of a program on T.V.
or something like that.
It’s fuzzy-ness,
the soft fleecy material
is what attracts you.
Comfort and confinement
to the couch
for the last minutes that you are awake, lures you
to the red blanket.
When someone goes up
to get a glass of water or some popcorn,
that would be the best time for you to stealthily steal that red blanket for yourself.
