Song Bird

I picture him as a songbird,
Whose song was filled with life;
But his song was cut short,
As the storm took away his light,
He was decaying slowly everyday,
Everyday since his last birthday;
And nothing, nothing I could do would stop the pain.
And on a day in spring ,
When a songbird should fly,
My twelve-year old cousins heart stopped beating,
As cancer took his life.
