Saying Goodbye
Her heart aches as she thinks about what she could’ve done
Such things, they are plentiful under the sun
She had to say good-bye the other day
As her cousin had traveled to heaven so far away
She fought her tears all throughout
She hated them without a doubt
Later, she didn’t have anyone to call
And she lost the battle with her tears, letting them fall
She had just lost her cousin
Her mind going to Emily Dickinson’s poem where that pesky fly was a buzzin’
Her tears fell harder as she continued to think
Her family now had a missing link
She is so sorry that she couldn’t say I love you once more
It just shook her to the very core
Her cousin, she knows, is no longer in pain
Looking so beautiful where she was lain
Negative emotions no longer have to be felt
And because of that, family are praying and thanking as by her side they knelt.
