Swingset Dreams
A little blonde-haired, brown eyed girl
Swinging on blue plastic swings
Looks up into the clear summer sky
She keeps getting higher and higher
Trying to touch the branches of
A nearby tree with her freshly painted
Lime green and bubble gum pink toes
The tree limbs are much too high for her
To reach but there is still a sparkle of hope
In her wide, hazel eyes that she may reach it
“DADDY! Come push me!’ she demands while
Her stringy, sun-bleached hair flies in her face
“Okay honey,” her daddy says, even though
He knows that she will never be able to touch the tree
