Pigment
It had been coming for quite some time
This moment
Despite how quickly or slowly
It traveled toward her
She was unable to ever fully see
What was in store
Her eyelids brushed with pigment
Ready to leave their stain on her face
As she cried in a way she never knew
But she did not feel the heat of the tears
Having left her own physical body long before
Now she just watched it move
The shoulders rising rhythmically
As the chest split open
The heart
It did not break
It poured through the seams of the torn chest
Spilling onto the floor for all to see
And on that cold floor is where it remains
To this very day
Even after the pigment washed away
