Why we Fight
It started with 3,000,
3,000 I didn't know,
for what reason I don't know,
they had to die.
From an enemy hiding in caves,
In a nation in chaos
where warfare has stained the rocks and sand for centuries
leading to ten years,
ten long years of war.
Where men, women, and children alike suffer-
for what?
For oil?Religion? Or because they have no choice.
Why we fight-
to help those who can't help themselves.
to defend our great nation, and the world from attack.
Stop fighting! People say.
Stop killing! People say.
Can we think of someone other than ourselves?
Have we forgotten why we are there?
"An exit strategy to end the war by 2014"
Is this what we have come to?
Sometimes I wonder...
Have we forgotten Why we Fight?
