She sits in her rocking chair, rocking
Back and forth, back and forth
Eating ice cream around a novel
She knits scarves to warm the necks of her loves,
Or perhaps to guard them from a vampires teeth
She smiles at the babies, so chubby and small
She cuddles them; she kisses them and lives
She loves Jesus and her parents
Perhaps she expects too much from her
She’ll try to change the world
She might fail
She might do it
Love songs wrap her up
She buzzes with electricity and
Christmas time is her favorite
But she lives for summer sunsets
Teenagers scare her
So she avoids mirrors
And loves the nighttime stars
Because they are magical.
