At 2:30
It’s 2:30 in the morning but that doesn’t mean I’m not awake.
It’s a quiet night in town but that doesn’t mean it’s quiet here.
The pillow is over my ears bur that doesn’t mean I don’t hear.
The blows you give each other don’t touch me but I feel their pain.
It’s dark and my eyes are squeezed tightly shut but I still see what’s going on.
I may be a child but that doesn’t mean I’m innocent.
I’ll smile tomorrow but inside I’ll quake with anxiety.
I act like everything is ok but it’s not.
Your words aren’t meant for me but they still make me cry.
It may be 2:30 in the morning but all this is going through my head.
